The Fulbright scholarship holder Emma Bathke from Virginia shared with the students from the Goetheschule in Bönen of Unna, through a presentation filled with many pictures, insights into how children grow up in the USA and how the American school system differs from ours. Following the presentation, the fourth-grade students had the opportunity to ask questions they had prepared in class. The language of instruction was a colorful mix of German and English, where the children and Emma Bathke helped each other in their respective languages and communicated with gestures. This allowed the students to experience firsthand communication in a foreign language and gain valuable insights into a different way of life. The visit was facilitated through the Meet US program of the U.S. Consulate General in Düsseldorf.
