The Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation, and Transport (MUNV) has maintained a close professional exchange with the Department of Environment of the U.S. state of Minnesota since 2013. In 2021, the then Minister of MUNV, together with her counterpart from Minnesota, signed a Declaration of Intent valid for four years. On the occasion of celebrating 10 years of successful cooperation in the environmental sector, Minister Krischer (MUNV) and the Transportation Minister of Minnesota, Nancy Dauberberger, decided to expand cooperation to the transportation sector.
Partners to this declaration are, on the one hand, the Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation, and Transport of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, and, on the other hand, the Department of Transportation of Minnesota. The purpose of this Joint Declaration of Intent is to deepen cooperation and mutual exchange in the transportation sector for the period 2024 – 2028, based on equality and mutual benefit – and to formally reaffirm this goal through the Joint Declaration.
Both sides intend to further develop the contacts already established in some areas, enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the people of Minnesota and North Rhine-Westphalia through various forms of cooperation, and develop and implement strategies and measures for the areas of “aviation, road infrastructure, and mobility.”
