
The event took place as part of the current NRW-USA Year. The event was organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia together with NRW.Global Business, NRW.BANK and the Düsseldorf Chamber of Industry and Commerce as well as the US Consulate General in Düsseldorf and AmCham Germany.
The event was opened by Gabriela Pantring, Deputy Chairwoman of the Managing Board of NRW.BANK, followed by a talk with Mona Neubauer, Minister for Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy and Deputy Prime Minister of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and Pauline Kao, outgoing US Consul General for North Rhine-Westphalia.
Immediately afterwards, the participants were able to listen to the keynote speech by Christian Kullmann, CEO of Evonik Industries AG. He emphasized NRW’s high level of competitiveness and expressed how important innovations are for maintaining this competitiveness. In particular, he emphasized the great importance of the partnership with the USA.
Over the course of the afternoon, various panels discussed topics relating to economic cooperation between the USA and NRW. Among other things, strategies for market entry in the USA as well as the billions invested by US tech giant Microsoft in NRW were discussed. Experts from business, politics and science from both NRW and the USA were present. At the end of the official part of the event, Cathryn Clüver Ashbrook looked back on the event in conversation with Christin Schack, Vice President and Managing Director Central Europe at 3M Deutschland GmbH.
Afterwards, attendees had the opportunity to network, make new contacts and discuss the day’s topics in depth with the experts and participants.
True to the motto “A perfect match!”, the summit brought interested people together and intensified economic cooperation with the USA.
