E-commerce in the United States is developing at an unparalleled pace. While this growth offers tremendous opportunities for companies, it also brings complex challenges—especially when expanding into international markets. Businesses that want to sell products from Europe into the U.S. must ensure full compliance with legal and tax requirements. Numerous regulations apply to online retailers shipping to the U.S., whether through their own webshops or via major platforms and marketplaces.
A major new hurdle is the end of the de minimis rule. Until now, commercial shipments valued at up to USD 800 could enter the United States duty-free under the de minimis exemption defined in 19 U.S.C. 1321(a)(2)(C). As of August 29, this exemption no longer applies, creating significant implications for cross-border e-commerce.
Participants in this workshop will receive practical guidance, expert insights, and actionable recommendations to help them continue selling products online into the U.S. safely and efficiently despite the new regulatory landscape. There will also be an opportunity to discuss individual questions with the speakers.
The workshop is designed for both B2B and B2C online retailers who are considering entering the U.S. market digitally or who want to expand their online sales activities in the United States.
Note: The Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) is offering three parallel workshops on U.S. market entry on October 29. Please register for only one workshop.
