“I’m an American”
In November 2024, America faced a pivotal choice: Republican or Democrat, Trump or Harris? This moment of deep political division is the focus of Yadah Kaufmann’s photo documentary. A graduate of the University of Applied Sciences Bielefeld (Faculty of Design), Kaufmann traveled across the U.S. in 2024, conducting numerous interviews to uncover the hopes and fears of Americans. Her portraits reveal a moving sense of humanity—despite the heightened tensions. The project, also presented as a photo book, gives voice to both sides of the political divide and brings them—at least symbolically—into conversation.
