Institutions like the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT in Aachen and the Fraunhofer Research Manufacturing Battery Cell FFB in Münster play a crucial role in building transatlantic partnerships. Through initial research trips and exchanges with US companies, the foundation for deeper collaboration has already been laid to jointly advance the development and production of innovative battery technologies.
To solidify this cooperation, a workshop with representatives from American universities and companies will take place in Chicago on May 13, 2024. The goal is to translate research findings into joint industrial projects. Already, 30 individuals have confirmed their participation, reflecting the strong interest of the US industry in battery technology and battery research made in Germany.
With an ambitious agenda for the current year, including additional workshops in North America and participation in the renowned Battery Show USA, additional platforms for exchange are being created to firmly establish the NRW research ecosystem in the US battery market.
The support of Fraunhofer USA, the German-American Chambers of Commerce, and the local IHK Nord-Westfalen (Chambers of Industry and Commerce) is indispensable for the success of the initiative, as they play a significant role in facilitating contacts and organizing activities.
In the "FFB PreFab," Fraunhofer FFB is launching its research operations on 6450 square meters with the commissioning of innovative European machine technology. This is an important step towards the establishment of the "FFB Fab," which will enable industry-related production research with plant technology on a large industrial scale in Münster on 20,000 square meters. © Fraunhofer FFB
