Transatlantic Luncheon
Dr. Jana Puglierin and Dr. Anne-Marie Slaughter engaged in a thorough conversation about foreign policy issues, including how to secure mid-term support for Ukraine and the joint transatlantic response to global power shifts, particularly concerning China. Domestic developments in the United States, especially in the context of the 2024 election year, were also lively discussion topics.
Slaughter, who served as the Director of Policy Planning at the U.S. Department of State under Secretary of State Hillary Clinton from 2009 to 2011, is an emeritus professor of political science and international relations at Princeton University and the CEO of the think tank “New America.”
Puglierin, a Senior Policy Fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), has led its Berlin office since 2020. Previously, she directed the Alfred von Oppenheim Center for European Policy Studies at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP).
Among the guests was U.S. Consul General Pauline Kao from Düsseldorf. Guests from politics, business, and society attended the luncheon and had the opportunity to pose questions.
